VETUS ELECTRIC INBOARD MOTORS
VETUS was founded in The Netherlands and has a strong history in quality marine engines and parts. Since 2013 VETUS is part of the Yanmar Group. In recent years VETUS have released a range of compact electric motors for marine applications. The emphasis of their electric motors is on compact, efficient, plug & play style systems designed for newbuilt and retrofit shaft-drives on small to medium sized displacement-type boats.
GENERAL VETUS SYSTEM INFORMATION
All VETUS E-Line systems are direct drive, high efficiency and have an integrated Active Electronic Braking function. The E-Line electric motors accelerate faster than a diesel engine. With no gearbox and clutch required, when reversing the propeller, the high speed electric motor must immediately come to a full stop and then rotate in the opposite direction. The high torque of the electric motor is used to slow and then change the direction of rotation quickly and effectively.
The VETUS E-Line systems also have an integrated Battery Protection function to ensure that the battery bank is not unnecessarily damaged due to the batteries being drained too far down which will reduce their lifespan.
- All motors are Brushless induction motors, high efficiency, with IP65 rating for the motor and IP43 for the cover.
- VETUS E-Line systems come in either Air or Liquid cooled versions.
- Battery bank required: 48V, can be either deep-cyle lead-acid or Lithium.
