Torqeedo Cruise 2.0TL on Ross 780MKIII trailer yacht, NSW

Pittwater based client John Marshall has had his Ross 780MKIII trailer yacht for quite a few years, but until recently has always relied on a petrol outboard as auxiliary drive. Now that the old Tohatsu was starting to play up he decided to move away from the noise & smell and install a Torqeedo Cruise 2.0, equivalent to 6HP (in thrust) which turned out to be a great match. He paired the motor up with two 120Ah 24V Itech Lithium batteries and is getting 5.7 knots top speed and at 4 knots cruising speed has a range of approximately 15 nm. A nifty bracket allows the tiller to be clipped onto the transom within easy reach and can be attached back onto the motor for precision docking & maneuvering. He can charge the batteries from shore power at the marina and is enjoying the quiet motoring experience. The high thrust comes in handy when reverse-docking and there’s no need to flush the outboard after use.
